Maximum Security crossed the finish line first at the Kentucky Derby on May 2 but was disqualified for interference.With no Triple Crown on the line, the horse didn’t run in the Preakness Stakes or the Belmont Stakes.
Servis reportedly had considered making the horse’s next race the Haskell but decided to enter him in the Pegasus.
“He’s going to run,” Servis said, per Horse Racing Nation. “The horse had a really good day and I don’t see a reason why we shouldn’t run.”
Maximum Security’s owners, Gary and Mary West, have sued in hopes of overturning the decision to disqualify the horse at the Derby and restoring the win. Runner-up Country House was named the winner at 65-1 odds.
